The revelation of the holy Quran continued during this period until the death of Prophet Muhammad; it took 23 years to complete the holy Quran.

This article will discuss all the points in Quran revelation order that Muslims want to know about the arrangement and order of the holy Quran and why the holy Quran is arranged and ordered in this way. All the topics will be discussed from all the dimensions.

Historical Context of the Quran Revelation Order

The holy Quran was revealed by the last messenger, the prophet Muhammad. Prophet Muhammad was meditating at mountain Hira when he found an angel talking to him; the name of the angel was Jabril, who was responsible for delivering the Ayat from God to Prophet Muhammad. Muslim knows that the holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad over 23 years until the death of the Prophet Muhammad. The Ayat was revealed to support Prophet Muhammad and guide him through the obstacles that he faced from the unbelievers. God chose the order of the Ayat, and the prophet Muhammad read the Ayat according to its order. During the Salah, he was reciting the Quran revelation order, the order of the mushaf now, which made him memorize it with its order.

Meccan vs. Medinan Revelations

The Holy Quran consists of 114 surahs; 93 of them are Meccan and 21 are Medinan. The Meccan surahs are revealed before the migration of the Prophet Muhammad to Medina; the Medinan surahs are revealed after the migration of Prophet Muhammad to Medina. There are differences between the Meccan and the Medinan surahs; the Meccan surahs talk about the oneness of God and the message of the prophet Muhammad, the afterlife, heaven, and hell. The Meccan surah spoke about the kuffar and mushrken. On the other hand, the Medinan Surahs talk about the practical life of Muslims and the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion. The Medinan Ayat spoke to the Muslims and their lives and guides that helped them reach heaven.

The Revelation Order in the Quran

God revealed the holy Quran. The angel Jabril came to Prophet Muhammad with the order of the holy Quran. Prophet Muhammad revised the Ayat and Surah and its order with Jabril to ensure that all the Surah and Ayat were correct and also the order of the Quran was right.

The benefits of the order of the holy Quran are that the Mecca surah is revealed to only God, but the Medinan surah is guidance for people, so God put this order in place. Muslims can read the holy Quran with the revelation order, but it will be much better to read with its current order.
