He created tribes and made him part of the best tribe. He created families and made him part of the best family, as the Prophet himself said, “I am the best of you in family and character.”

 

Regarding Prophet Mohammed’s Family, peace be upon him, they are the most honorable and esteemed people. Congratulations to the family of the chosen one; God has bestowed upon you a nobility unmatched by others.

First: Ancestors of Prophet Mohammed’s Family

 

1. His paternal grandfather was Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn Abd Manaf.

2. His maternal grandfather was Wahb ibn Abd Manaf ibn Zuhra.

3. His paternal grandmother was Fatimah bint Amr ibn Aidh ibn Imran ibn Makhzum.

4. His maternal grandmother was Barrah bint Abdul Uzza ibn Uthman ibn Abdul Dar ibn Qusay ibn Kilab ibn Murrah.

 

Second: Parents in Prophet Mohammed’s Family

1. His father was Abdullah ibn Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn Abd Manaf.

2. His mother was Aminah bint Wahb ibn Abd Manaf ibn Zuhra, who passed away when he was six years old.

 

Third: Wives in Prophet Mohammed’s Family

 

1. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, may God be pleased with her, was his first wife. He married her at the age of 25 when she was 40, and she bore him all his children except one.

2. Sawdah bint Zam’ah, whom he married as a widow, and she was much older than him.

3. Aisha bint Abu Bakr, the only virgin he married and the daughter of his closest friend, Abu Bakr.

4. Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab, whom he married after her husband was martyred in the Battle of Badr.

5. Zaynab bint Jahsh, whom he married by God’s command after she was divorced by Zayd ibn Harithah.

6. Zaynab bint Khuzaymah, whom he married after her husband was martyred in the Battle of Badr.

7. Hind bint Umayyah, known as Umm Salamah, whom he married after her husband was martyred in the Battle of Uhud.

8. Ramlah bint Abu Sufyan, known as Umm Habibah, whom he married as a widow.

9. Maymunah bint Al-Harith, the last woman he married.

10. Juwayriyyah bint Al-Harith, whom he married after her husband died.

11. Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Akhtab, whom he married as a widow.

 

Fourth: Children in Prophet Mohammed’s Family

 

1. Al-Qasim, his first child, who died young at the age of one year and five months.

2. Zaynab, his second child, who passed away in the eighth year of Hijrah.

3. Ruqayyah, who married twice and died after the Battle of Badr.

4. Umm Kulthum, who also married twice and died in the ninth year of Hijrah.

5. Fatimah, known as Umm Abiha, was the only one who lived after the Prophet and died six months after him.

6. Abdullah, born after the Prophethood, died young.

7. Ibrahim, the only child from Maria the Copt, died at sixteen months.

 

Fifth: Grandchildren in Prophet Mohammed’s Family

 

Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, had no grandchildren from his sons as they all died young. However, he had grandchildren from his daughters:

 

1. From Zaynab: Ali and Umamah, children of Abu Al-As ibn Al-Rabi.

2. From Ruqayyah: Abdullah, son of Uthman ibn Affan, who died young.

3. From Fatimah: Hasan, Husayn, Muhsin, Umm Kulthum, and Zaynab.

 

Sixth: Uncles in Prophet Mohammed’s Family

 

The Prophet had ten uncles and six aunts:

 

1. Hamzah ibn Abdul Muttalib, who embraced Islam and was titled “Lion of God.”

2. Al-Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib, who also embraced Islam.

3. Abu Talib, who raised the Prophet after his grandfather’s death, did not embrace Islam but supported him.

4. Abu Lahab, who opposed the Prophet fiercely and remained an enemy.

5. Al-Zubayr ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

6. Abdul Uzza ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

7. Al-Harith ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

8. Al-Ghaydaq ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

9. Dhirar ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

10. Qutham ibn Abdul Muttalib, who died before the Prophethood.

 

The Prophet also had six aunts:

 

1. Atikah bint Abdul Muttalib.

2. Safiyyah bint Abdul Muttalib.

3. Ummimah bint Abdul Muttalib.

4. Arwa bint Abdul Muttalib.

5. Umm Hakim bint Abdul Muttalib.

6. Barrah bint Abdul Muttalib.

 

The Prophet had no maternal uncles as Aminah bint Wahb had no brothers.
